Gospel musicians Joyce Blessing and Obaapa Christy are preaching that their fellows should charge for church performances but Abigail Coleman, their colleague in the gospel music business thinks otherwise.
Joyce and Obaapa are of the view that they need money to push their ministry whilst Mrs. Coleman thinks a premium should not be put on performances at a church in order to allow all churches invite them to help win souls for Christ. But pastor Brian Amoateng of London Prayer Center has blamed his colleague pastors for gospel musician’s cry to quote an amount before agreeing to perform at churches.
Speaking to Zionfelix on Radio Univers Monday morning from London, Amoateng explained that some pastors have been wicked to several gospel artists. He explained that some Men of God were not giving gospel musicians what is due them anytime they came to perform for them without mentioning a fee.
According to him, some gospel artists in time past were given ‘meat pie and soft drinks’ as a thank you gesture after the musicians had blessed the congregation.
Brian Amoateng added that he will not fault gospel musicians when they decide to charge before accepting to mount the stage of churches because some pastors do not treat them well after ministering.
“Most pastors have abused gospel artistes. Some pastors pay some gospel artistes with meat pie and fanta lemon. How will the artist pay for the transportation with the meatpie and fanta lemon. If all pasors could treat gospel musicians well, they would not charge.
I persoanlly do not have any problem with gospel musicians charging for church performances.” Brian Amoateng told Zionfelix on the mid-morning entertainment show.
He further invited Ghanaians to the fourth edition of International Youth Empowerment Summit starting from August 22 to August 24 this year at the National Theater.
