Veteran Ghanaian rapper-turned-radio presenter and music producer, Okyeame Quophi, has ignited a new wave of conversation in the music industry after boldly declaring Sarkodie as the best rapper alive.
In an interview, Okyeame Quophi reflected on Ghana’s rap landscape and acknowledged the influence of his former music partner, Okyeame Kwame.
However, he was emphatic in his view that Sarkodie stands above all others in terms of consistency, recognition, and national acceptance.
“For Sarkodie to have held his ground, stayed consistent, and received the right recognition from Ghanaians—that makes him the best,” Quophi stated. “If Ghanaians universally acknowledge your greatness, it’s not by chance. It takes God’s grace and the approval of the people. You cannot succeed without public support.”
His comments have since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with fans and music lovers weighing in on the ongoing debate about Ghana’s top lyricists.
Sarkodie, known for his lyrical dexterity and award-winning music career, has long been hailed as a titan in African hip-hop. Quophi’s endorsement further cements the rapper’s standing in the eyes of many.
