The release of Dunsin’s hit album, “Ɔyɛadeɛyie,” in 2008 set the Ghanaian music scene ablaze with its captivating beat and lyrics. Subsequently, the album of the same title, released in 2009, further solidified their musical prowess.

Despite the single’s popularity and nomination for ‘Hiplife Song of The Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards, Dunsin felt overlooked when other categories failed to recognize their contribution to the industry.

Venting their frustrations on various platforms, including Kwasi Aboagye’s ‘Peace Entertainment Review’ and Graphic Showbiz, the group expressed disappointment at the lack of nominations in additional categories.

Their discontent notwithstanding, Dunsin’s impact extended beyond Ghana’s borders, with “Ɔyɛadeɛyie” gaining popularity in several African countries and diaspora communities.

In a turn of events, five years after its release, Dunsin received international acclaim at the Musician Union of South Africa (MUSA) awards in 2013. Despite not securing any awards at home, the group was honored with the titles of ‘Most Exciting Group in Africa’ and ‘Most African Video’ at the MUSA event, held at Lyttelton Centurion, Pretoria.

Ahmmed Kenneh Larweh (Kele) proudly represented the group at the awards ceremony, acknowledging the support of South African music group Afrikan Roots in their journey to international recognition.

This triumph on the global stage highlights the universal appeal of Dunsin’s music, reaffirming their status as a group with significant impact beyond national borders.
