Ghanaian artiste Kweku Flick has spoken out after an unexpected interruption cut short his performance at Wendy Shay’s recent ‘Shay Concert’.
He described the incident as disappointing and part of a broader problem artistes continue to face in the industry in a post sighted by Zionfelix.net.
Writing on X, Flick said he chose not to publicly react during the event because of his respect and affection for Wendy Shay, whom he referred to as his “sissy.” However, he admitted he was upset by the abrupt cut to his set, which he says happened while the crowd was still actively enjoying his performance.
He stated that someone at the event, either the DJ or another stage operator, cut off his microphone at a time when the audience were enjoying his performance. “I’m very calm,” he wrote, adding that his patience should not give anyone the impression they can silence him mid-performance. “Some people were happy enjoying my performance, unaware cut off??”

Flick revealed he had travelled from Kumasi for the show, only to be met with what he considered “disrespect,” stressing the risks and effort involved in making such trips as an artiste. He warned that if a similar incident happens again, his response may not be as restrained.
Even so, the “Money” hitmaker took time to congratulate Wendy Shay on the success of the event, praying for more blessings as he acknowledged that history was made that night.
Kweku Flick clarified that his post was not meant to attack the Shay Concert itself but to highlight a recurring trend many artists have faced across events. He said issues like abrupt cut-offs should not be normalized at any concert. “This is not the first and last concert on earth, and it’s something that has been happening to so many great artists,” he wrote, urging event organizers to do better.
