Daniel Yusif, a close associate of embattled Swedru-based socialite Abu Trica, has reportedly been arrested over his alleged involvement in wire fraud-related crimes.

Abu Trica, whose real name is Frederick Kumi and also known as Emmanuel Kojo Baah Obeng, was arrested on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in a joint operation involving the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Ghanaian security agencies.

According to an unsealed indictment by the US Department of Justice, Abu Trica is facing charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering conspiracy, and a forfeiture specification. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

Following Abu Trica’s arrest, reports indicate that Daniel Yusif, popularly known as “Slab,” went into hiding to evade arrest.

However, his attempt to escape the country was foiled earlier this month. According to sources, Daniel was apprehended by police and other state security agencies at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra when he tried to flee Ghana.

Speaking on his Black Pot show, broadcaster Blakk Rasta disclosed that Daniel’s wife was initially taken into police custody as part of efforts to compel him to turn himself in after he went on the run.

Despite this, Daniel reportedly refused to surrender and allegedly made several failed attempts to leave the country through various land borders.

Blakk Rasta further revealed that security operatives had been strategically deployed to block Daniel’s exit from Ghana.

According to him, the suspect eventually opted to flee via air, attempting to travel to Europe through Kotoka International Airport after allegedly visiting a spiritual priest.
