Ghanaian actress Louisa Adinkra has reflected on the collapse of her marriage. She described it as a painful chapter she sensed might not stand the test of time.
In a recent discussion with Emelia Brobbey on Adom TV, she revealed she has spent the last seven years on her own following the end of the union.
“I’m no longer married. I’ve been single for about seven years now,” Louisa disclosed.
Sharing what the experience has taught her, the actress stressed the need for vigilance when it comes to personal relationships, especially those allowed into one’s inner circle.
“You need to be scared and cautious about people. The scary part is, the ones you bring closer are the ones who would hurt you the most,” she stated.
According to her, the breakdown of the marriage was not caused by a single issue, but one situation stood out above the rest. She pointed to the influence of someone she once trusted deeply, who later became a key factor in the relationship’s downfall.
“My marriage ended in so many angles. There was one particular person who was very close to me. She was part of my husband’s family. When I brought her to stay with me, a lot of people were against it. I didn’t know what I saw in her but I liked her so much. She played a major role in my marriage not working,” she indicated.

She admitted that her former husband had repeatedly cautioned her about the people around her, advice she did not fully take seriously at the time.
“My ex-husband used to warn me to be careful of my friends, but when I check around, I don’t see any friend who’s that close to me,” she explained.
In reflection, she now believes there were warning signs long before the marriage itself, but her feelings at the time clouded her judgment.
“I had always known my marriage would collapse. During our dating moments, whenever I was going to my ex-husband’s house, people asked me if I could cope. That should have been a signal to me, but I didn’t pay attention, and I was in love,” she divulged.
Louisa Adinkra said the marriage lasted nearly nine years, and in hindsight, she questions whether those years could have been spent differently.
“I was married for close to nine years. Looking at my age now and the number of years I was married, I feel I’ve wasted my time,” she stated.
