Legendary Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has disclosed that he was approached by a political party to serve as a running mate in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, the “Rap Dacta” revealed that the offer came from Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, founder of the Movement for Change, also referred to as the Unity Party.

According to Okyeame Kwame, he was informed that the party had outlined about 10 key qualities they were seeking in a running mate—and he met all of them.

The rapper admitted he was initially excited by the opportunity and quickly shared the news with his mother, who advised him to pray and reflect carefully before making a decision.

He also consulted individuals within the political space to better understand the demands and responsibilities associated with such a high-profile role.

After careful consideration, Okyeame Kwame decided to turn down the offer, citing his lack of readiness for the position.

“I was not ready, so I told them I was not mentally ready to take up such responsibility,” he explained.
