The Ghana School of Law (GSL) has officially postponed two major examinations scheduled for Monday, June 29, 2026, following severe rainfall and widespread flooding recorded in parts of Accra, which disrupted movement and raised safety concerns for students.
The affected papers include the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Ghana Legal System examinations.
Decision Taken in Interest of Student Safety
In a notice issued by management and signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Juliet Mavis Adu-Adjei, students were informed that the decision was taken following directives from the Chair of the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC).
According to the notice, the examinations have been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with all previously assigned venues remaining unchanged.
Management emphasized that the postponement was necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of students and other stakeholders affected by the adverse weather conditions and flooded road networks across the capital.
Flooding in Accra Disrupts Academic Activities
The decision comes amid heavy flooding triggered by hours of continuous rainfall across Greater Accra, which left several major roads impassable and disrupted transport services.
Areas including Mallam, Kaneshie, Achimota, Weija, Kasoa, Klagon, Tse Addo and Dzowulu recorded varying levels of flooding, making it difficult for students and staff to commute safely to examination centres.
The Accra–Kasoa highway, Mallam Junction stretch, and sections of the Winneba road were among routes heavily affected by floodwaters and traffic congestion.
Students Stranded as Transport Systems Collapse
Public transport operators suspended services on several routes due to submerged roads and poor visibility, leaving many students stranded or unable to reach campus ahead of the scheduled examinations.
The situation sparked concerns among academic stakeholders, prompting the School of Law to act swiftly to avoid exposing students to unsafe travel conditions.

The Ghana School of Law expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the sudden change in schedule.
Management also thanked students for their patience, understanding, and cooperation as the institution works to maintain academic continuity while prioritizing safety.
