Kumawood actor Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi, popularly known as Kwadwo Kwekyre, has received a new financial boost in his quest to raise funds for a life-saving kidney transplant.
The latest support comes from the Member of Parliament for Juaben, Francis Owusu-Akyaw, who donated GH¢20,000 towards the actor’s medical bills.
According to a report on GhanaWeb, the donation was presented on behalf of the MP by Kumawood actress Matilda Asare, who paid a visit to the ailing actor to encourage him and assure him that he is not alone in his fight against the life-threatening illness.
According to Matilda Asare, the decision to seek support from the Juaben MP came after witnessing the actor’s condition firsthand and realizing the urgent financial burden facing him and his family.
“When we first came here, we saw the condition he was in. We know that when someone is diagnosed with this sickness and does not have a helper or support system, it becomes very difficult. So we went to seek assistance from the Juaben MP, and he gave us GH¢20,000 to help support his medical bills,” she explained.
The ailing actor expressed profound gratitude to the MP for the timely intervention, describing the donation as a huge relief as he continues to battle the soaring cost of treatment.
