Ghanaian Highlife musician KK Fosu has stated that he is ready to challenge Akuapem North Member of Parliament Sammy Awuku in the 2028 parliamentary election. He insisted that he will defeat the lawmaker whether he runs as an independent candidate or on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking in a recent interview on Asempa FM, the musician revealed that he had planned to contest the constituency in the 2024 election but was forced to shelve those ambitions after he was involved in a fatal road accident with fellow musician Bless on the Apam to Winneba highway in 2024.
According to KK Fosu, he has now set his sights on the next parliamentary election and intends to contest as an independent candidate.
He also threw down a challenge to Sammy Awuku, urging him to abandon the NPP and enter the race as an independent if he believes he enjoys enough personal support to retain the seat.
The singer maintained that he would still emerge victorious even if the incumbent chooses to contest on the NPP’s ticket, arguing that the party no longer commands the political strength it once had.

“I will contest for the seat. I did not contest in 2024 because of my accident. When Sammy Awuku heard I wanted to contest, he also joined the contest. If he wants, he should leave the NPP and also contest as an independent candidate; I will beat him. Even the NPP is dead, so I can beat him,” he averred.
Sammy Awuku later responded in a light-hearted manner through a post on social media, teasing the musician over his political ambitions.
“KK Fosu m’aya da! Please get me a campaign track before you pick nomination forms. Nice weekend, Bro,” he wrote.
KK Fosu, whose real name is Kaakyire Kwame Fosu, has long expressed an interest in representing Akuapem North in Parliament.
He first publicly declared his political ambition ahead of the 2020 general election, saying he wanted to use public office to create opportunities for young people in the constituency.
