For the first time since the burial of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, the public has caught a glimpse of his final resting place following the observance of his one-year anniversary on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The anniversary ceremony came off in Accra despite recent objections raised by the musician’s sister, Akosua Brempomaa, who had insisted that the commemoration could not be held because, according to her, the family did not know where Daddy Lumba had been buried and several customary and legal issues remained unresolved.
However, videos that surfaced online on Sunday morning showed that the one-year remembrance was indeed held at the place where the late music icon was laid to rest.
The videos revealed that Daddy Lumba was buried in a large private compound in Accra, situated close to his East Legon residence.
The serene location has been transformed into a befitting memorial site, decorated with several items, photographs, awards and symbolic displays celebrating the extraordinary life and musical legacy of the highlife legend.
The memorial service was reportedly organised by the late musician’s embattled family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, popularly known as Tupac. He led the proceedings, while one of Daddy Lumba’s sisters Faustina was invited to offer prayers during the solemn event.
According to details shared during the ceremony, the burial site is expected to be developed into a tourist attraction in the coming days, allowing fans and admirers to visit and pay their respects while learning more about the remarkable life and achievements of Daddy Lumba.
The development has come as a surprise to many Ghanaians, especially after Akosua Brempomaa recently claimed in a viral video that the family could not perform the necessary Ashanti customary rites because they did not know the exact location of Daddy Lumba’s burial.
She had also disclosed that the matter was before the courts, where the family was seeking answers regarding the musician’s burial site and accountability for finances connected to his funeral.
