Ghanaian Kumawood actor Oteele has finally spoken publicly following the circulation of a private video involving him, which has sparked widespread discussion on social media.
The actor, known in private life as Stephen Yaw Mawunyo, was seen on TikTok Live addressing the controversy and opening up about how the development has affected him emotionally on Thursday, August 13, 2026 evening.
According to Oteele, some very good people close to him advised him to come online and interact with his followers as a way of taking his mind off the stress and pressure that come with such an unfortunate situation.
He explained that the situation has not been easy for him, revealing that he has struggled to eat properly since the controversy erupted.
During the TikTok Live session, Oteele showed viewers some balls of banku he had failed to eat even though he does not play with his food, especially banku.
The actor, however, indicated that he was making a conscious effort to remain strong despite everything he was going through.
Oteele said he was trying to encourage himself because he was aware that some people had taken their own lives after finding themselves in similarly difficult situations.
It should be noted that already the alleged video has generated intense discussion across social media and Oteele’s wife, Gifty Nana Afriyie, has also reacted to the controversy, reportedly denying that she was the woman seen in the circulating footage and apologising to followers on behalf of herself and her family.
