Prophet Kumchacha has criticised some National Democratic Congress (NDC) government appointees for allegedly becoming inaccessible after the party returned to power.

The founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries International said some ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs) and chief executives of state institutions no longer answer calls or return missed calls, a situation he believes reflects a change in their relationship with supporters.

The preacher expressed concern about the treatment of people who helped the NDC while it was in opposition, arguing that those now occupying public offices should remain available to listen to the concerns of others.

“Some ministers, MPs, top NDC leaders and state CEOs, when we call you, you should answer our calls. I’m tired. It won’t be long before your remaining two years in office are up. Some people are eating while others are going hungry,” Kumchacha said on Aluta FM.

While expressing his disappointment with some officials, Kumchacha commended Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku, GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi and National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) CEO Eric Adjei for what he described as their readiness to assist people who approach them.

He said the three appointees had shown a willingness to listen to people who visit their offices for help, adding that they sometimes provide financial assistance from their own pockets.

Kumchacha, however, alleged that other government officials had taken a different approach, with some blocking contacts and making it difficult for people to reach them through phone calls.

He appealed to NDC leaders appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to be mindful of how they treat members of the public, particularly those who stood with the party before it won the 2024 general election.

According to the preacher, politicians tend to be more accessible when seeking public support in opposition but often become difficult to reach once they assume positions of authority.

“Politicians do not learn. When they are in opposition, they are very interactive and readily answer your calls, but when they come into power and assume positions, they stop answering their calls.

“These top NDC leaders, especially those President Mahama has appointed to various positions, should learn from this. Not everyone who calls you is asking for money, but the complaints I am receiving about the NDC are very troubling,” he averred.

Aside from his concerns about the conduct of some appointees, Kumchacha disclosed that he had not personally benefited from the NDC administration since the party returned to government.

He nevertheless maintained that his criticism of certain officials had not affected his regard for President Mahama and his wife, Lordina Mahama, whom he said he continued to respect.

The preacher described the President as a good person but insisted that his personal experience under the current administration had not brought him any benefit.

“John Mahama, as a person, is very good, but I have not benefited in any way from this government since it came into office,” he stressed.
