Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has been named an ambassador of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) following a courtesy visit to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christian Agyare, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
The visit, which took place ahead of his summit at the Great Hall of KNUST, forms part of activities leading up to the second edition of Rapperholic Homecoming in Kumasi.
Videos circulating on social media captured the award-winning musician receiving a special VVIP package from the university during his engagement with the Vice-Chancellor.
The visit also saw Prof. Agyare announce plans to engage Sarkodie in an ambassadorial role to help promote the institution and its vision.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, KNUST is seeking to collaborate with influential personalities who can contribute to its efforts to move from excellence to eminence, a vision that requires the support of respected individuals capable of projecting the university’s achievements to a wider audience.
“Maybe formally or informally appoint you as the ambassador for the university. Now we are moving from excellence to eminence, so we need people like you to promote the school,” Prof. Agyare told the rapper.
He further commended Sarkodie for visiting the university and taking an interest in interacting with its students, describing the gesture as an indication of the musician’s confidence in the institution and its future ambitions.
“If you didn’t believe in the university, you would not come. The mere fact that you’re here to interact with our students means you’re aware of what we’re doing and where we’re heading to,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
Sarkodie, who expressed appreciation for the recognition, is expected to play a role in promoting KNUST and strengthening its connection with young people, particularly students who look up to influential figures in the creative arts industry.
