The host of Abusua FM’s drivetime show, Austine Woode has not mince words in his description of Kumasi as a village when it comes to issues that have to do with the organization of entertainment shows.

The obviously disappointed stakeholder in the entertainment industry does not fail to express how sad and bad he felt yesterday, December 26, when a show that had three of Ghana’s greatest Highlife music gems on it was organized at the car park of a hotel in Kumasi.

Austine Woode lashes out at the government of Ghana and its creative arts ministry for their seeming neglect of the arts industry in the Garden city after the many promises they made in their manifesto prior to the 2016 elections.

In his own words, the “Abusua Entertainment Show” host wrote: “Yesterday epitomizes why Kumasi is considered a “village”. 3 of the Greatest Ghanaian musicians Lumba/Kojo Antwi/Amakye Dede who have not shared one stage before were doing so in Ghana’s 2nd largest City and we organized the event at the car park of a hotel. Ignorant people were questioning Kwame Adinkrah’s question about a promised theatre by the President. We really don’t respect Creative Arts in this part of the world but we are quick to compare revenue and quality of work outside Ghana to the ones from Ghana. A Shatta Wale and Sarkodie event under similar circumstances and there would have been a stampede. Oman foo sei apuuu“.

The show in question was organized by Silver FM in Kumasi and it had Daddy Lumba, Amakye Dede, Kojo Antwi perform. It came off at Miklin Hotel, Danyame – Kumasi.
