It’s the season of love and as usual, every individual or group of individuals will choose to celebrate the season in diverse ways.

Student volunteers from UNILIME FOUNDATION-UCC took this opportunity to put priceless smiles on the face of deprived kids in the society In satisfying its core mandate as an NGO concerned with assisting the less privileged, the Universal Light Media (UNILIME) Foundation shared the day of love, Valentine’s Day, with the orphans and special needs children living with Autism at the St. Elizabeth Special Needs Day Care Center at Ahotorkrom, Elmina.

With the warm reception received from these ‘deprived kids’ the day was well marked with lots to eat and drink as well as music and fun games between the volunteers and the children. Also in attendance were pupils from the Atonkwa R/C Primary and Junior High School. The children were treated to a buffet party after which a donation was made to the center.

The foundation presented items such as toileteries, exercise books, food items, among others to the Center. Presenting the items on behalf of Unilime Foundation, Mrs. Rose Austin Tenadu assured inmates of the continual support of the NGO to the special kids and admonished caretakers to modestly utilise the items in the interest of the children.

The Assistant Manager of the center Ms Grace Amankwandor in words of appreciation said “today has been a great day for us because students from the University of Cape Coast and have come to celebrate the Valentine’s Day with us. This is really good because sometimes our kids have this feeling that the society has neglected them, but this act by Unilime Foundation has shown them that the love they desire and we wish it will continue”.

She further called on more philantropists to support the center. The Executives of Unilime Foundation-Cape Coast Chapter led by Mr Ofori Asare Michael expressed great joy at the success of the program which was ultimately aimed at putting smiles on faces of the less privileged in this month of love.

With this as their second project in the Central Region, the foundation seeks to embark on a lot more projects to change lives and build hopes for deprived people and communities
