The story of a poor mother and her child is definitely enough to melt any stony heart.
The mother of three called Ama moved from her village where she slaved for pittance in the hopes of making ends meet in Accra only to have her youngest daughter molested by an unscrupulous man.
Ama worked as a local restaurant “chop bar” attendant in Accra.
According to her, her youngest daughter who is 3 years told her a 35 year old man at her workplace had touched her inappropriately and further complained about painful urination one day.
Upon inspecting she found out the little girl had bruises in her private part. Upon interrogation from her boss’s husband, the accused called Kwasi admitted to having raped the little girl three times.
Ama defied her boss’s request to let sleeping dogs lie. She reported the issue to the police and took her daughters to the hospital for professional health care. The youngman absconded when he heard the police were on his trail.
Ama felt unwanted at her workplace and decided to quit. She now lives off the benevolence of Nhyiramma Foundation and is calling on the public to help set her up for life.
As hardworking as she is, Ama pleads to kind-hearted people to help her find a place to stay and also help her to start a shoe selling business.
