Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has finally responded to the remarks made by renowned movie director Jones Agyeman, who recently claimed that young comic actors Kyekyeku and Opoku Bilson are currently better talents than him.

In an interview with Papa Jay of Poleeno Multimedia, Lilwin laughed off the comparison, stating that Jones Agyeman himself knows who the real champion is, which is why he still mentioned him among the top three, when his favorites like Kwaku Manu were there.

According to Lilwin, the fact that his name was placed ahead of many others in the industry shows the level of respect and recognition he still commands after more than two decades in the industry.

Lilwin pointed out that Kyekyeku and Opoku Bilson have indeed gained popularity through YouTube skits and recent movies, but their current buzz doesn’t erase his solid contribution and consistency over the years.

He noted that if after all these years Jones Agyeman still ranks him so highly, it is only proof of how good and relevant he remains in the Kumawood space.

Comparing his enduring legacy in the movie industry to that of Daddy Lumba in music, Lilwin stated: “You can’t erase Daddy Lumba’s legacy just because there are new artists trending now. I am like Lumba in Kumawood”

Lilwin emphasized that his contribution to the industry goes beyond temporary trends, and he remains confident in his place as one of Kumawood’s all-time greats.

Background

Director Jones Agyeman had earlier stirred conversation when he boldly stated in an interview with Papa Jay that Kyekyeku and Opoku Bilson have surpassed Lilwin in terms of pure comedic talent. He argued that while Lilwin is more of a comedian than an actor, the new generation is bringing fresher energy and more natural comedic brilliance to the industry.
