A video purportedly showing the living conditions of Joana Quaye and her children has ignited widespread debate online, intensifying public scrutiny of Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye following his recent media appearance.
The footage, shared on April 25, 2026, by Ghanaian comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger, allegedly captures a run-down and dilapidated environment said to be the residence of Quaye’s ex-wife and their children in Dansoman.
The controversy comes months after an Accra High Court ruling on January 20, 2026, which awarded Joana Quaye GH₵300,000 out of the GH₵5 million she had sought in the divorce settlement.
The court also granted her a one-third share of a house in Dansoman, GH₵5,000 monthly for the upkeep of their three children, along with other benefits.
The decision triggered mixed reactions online, particularly amid claims that Joana played a significant role in the early development of Quaye’s business empire.
Appearing on The Delay Show with Delay, Quaye dismissed assertions that his former wife contributed substantially to his financial success. He maintained that he was already financially stable prior to their marriage.
“So, if I had never had money, I couldn’t have married her because we had a luxurious wedding… I had money before I got married to her,” he said, adding that he owned a Volkswagen Passat before their union, which was used during their wedding.
Quaye also rejected allegations of neglect, insisting he provides fully for his children and remains actively involved in their lives.
However, the viral video shared by Afia Schwarzenegger has intensified criticism, with many social media users questioning the disparity between Quaye’s perceived wealth and the alleged state of his children’s living environment.
“This is where RNQ’s ex-wife and children stay at Dansoman 2026,” she captioned the video, suggesting that the footage contradicts Quaye’s claims of adequate care and support.
Afia Schwarzenegger further indicated that she intends to release additional evidence to challenge statements made by the businessman during his interview.
