Dr Likee has explained that the outfit he wore to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards red carpet was part of efforts to promote his upcoming comedy show at the O2 Indigo in London.
Speaking in a video shared on social media, Dr Likee said he anticipated the public reaction long before stepping onto the red carpet and had no regrets about the attention the outfit generated.
“I knew Ghanaians would definitely talk, but I wore that outfit to promote my upcoming show,” he said.
According to him, the outfit also reflected his personal style, explaining that he simply feels more comfortable in shorts than formal wear.
“Not just the promotion alone, but I wear shorts a lot. I’m much more comfortable wearing shorts,” he explained.

Despite the online backlash and heated conversations surrounding his appearance, Dr Likee appealed to his supporters to remain calm and avoid attacking critics on his behalf.
“No one should insult anybody for criticizing me. I’m begging my loyal fans not to go after anyone or fight with anyone.
“We all understand that it’s a game and that’s how it’s played. If they didn’t talk about me for me to trend, my comedy show at O2 wouldn’t get any attention,” he stated.
He also argued that criticism is often part of an entertainer’s journey, especially in an industry driven by visibility and public conversation.
“When people don’t criticize you, you will not go far in life. That’s why it’s called showbiz, so I’m really not bothered about what people were saying about my outfit,” Dr Likee further stated.
