Ghanaian singer Mzbel has opened up about her personal use of marijuana, describing it as something that influences her sense of calm, concentration, and mental balance.
Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, she revealed that she sometimes takes weed tea during yoga sessions, saying it helps her quiet her thoughts and ease built-up tension while meditating.
She drew a clear distinction between marijuana and alcohol based on how each affects her mood and behaviour. According to her, alcohol tends to make her more energetic and animated, while weed pushes her into a quieter, more introspective state.
Mzbel explained that her use is intentional and situation-based, adding that it is never random because it depends on her plans, the people she is meeting, and the mood she wants to project. She said being calm around others often reflects marijuana use, while heightened energy usually signals alcohol consumption.

She further described alcohol as something that increases liveliness, while marijuana brings her inward and helps her engage more deeply with her thoughts. She added that weed tea, in particular, supports her meditation process and described the herb as powerful and beneficial when used appropriately.
At the same time, she cautioned against careless or uninformed use, especially for beginners. She noted that first-time users may find the experience mentally overwhelming without proper guidance.
According to her, controlled use can be helpful, but frequent or habitual use may have a slowing effect. She emphasised that she approaches it sparingly and only when she considers it necessary.
