Ghanaian singer Belinda Ekuah Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has made her position on marriage unmistakably clear, saying she does not see herself ever becoming a wife.

In an exclusive interview with ZionFelix, she explained that marriage, in her view, does not come with any meaningful benefit, especially for women.

She described what she sees as the traditional expectations placed on wives as outdated and draining, likening the role to what she called “free slavery.”

Mzbel was blunt about the kind of domestic duties she believes are unfairly imposed on women in marriage. She said she would not accept a situation where a man expects her to cook, clean, or serve him, arguing that such responsibilities should not be transferred to a partner. She questioned why a grown man would rely on a woman for basic household care when he is no longer under his mother’s roof.

She explained that this mindset is the reason she has ruled marriage out entirely, insisting she cannot participate in it under those conditions. In her words, she considers marriage to be a form of free slavery.

She further stated that she would not encourage young women to get married, stressing that her view is shaped by how she interprets the demands placed on wives in many relationships.

Mzbel added that she is comfortable living life on her own terms, saying she does not need marriage to define her. She noted that while she is open to relationships, any partner who expects her to perform domestic chores would immediately end the relationship.
