Award-winning Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has declared that his name will remain relevant in Ghana’s entertainment history for generations, comparing his enduring legacy to some of the most renowned figures in the Bible.
The actor made the remarks shortly after winning the Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the 15th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards, a victory he says proves he remains a dominant force in the local movie industry despite claims that his influence is fading.
Speaking in an interview after receiving the award, Lil Win dismissed suggestions that his time in the spotlight had passed, insisting that his latest achievement is evidence that he is still among the industry’s top performers.
“Some people wanted to sideline me and said I’m no more relevant in the industry because my time has passed. But for me, I’m like biblical characters like Paul, Joseph, Ezekiel, Job, Moses. Have these names ever faded? Not at all?” he stated.
The Kumawood star went on to draw a connection between his own name and the lasting recognition enjoyed by biblical figures, arguing that his identity and contributions to the entertainment industry will ensure that he remains memorable.
“I have a bible name, Kwadwo Nkansah is like the biblical names and besides, I’m also called Job, so my name will never fade,” he added.
Lil Win also used the occasion to express confidence in his acting abilities, boldly attributing his award win to what he described as his superior talent compared to other nominees.
“I won the award for Best Actor in a leading role because I’m the best and the others aren’t good,” he said.
His comments have since sparked reactions among industry observers and fans, with some praising his confidence while others have questioned the comparison with fellow actors.
The actor further appeared to criticise the growing number of social media content creators transitioning into mainstream film roles. According to him, online popularity should not automatically be equated with professional acting excellence.
Over the years, Lil Win has established himself as one of Ghana’s most recognisable entertainers, building a successful career as an actor, musician, comedian, and producer. His latest award adds to a growing list of accolades and reinforces his status as one of the leading figures in the country’s movie industry.
