Ghanaian socialite and businessman Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, appeared in high spirits as he left the Accra High Court alongside his partner, Queenie, following the latest hearing in his ongoing extradition case.

The Swedru-based socialite returned to court on Thursday, June 11, 2026, as legal proceedings continued over a request to extradite him to the United States to face multiple criminal charges.

Videos circulating on social media after the hearing showed Abu Trica smiling and interacting with those around him as he departed the court premises with Queenie, the mother of his son, who has remained by his side throughout the legal battle.

Abu Trica was arrested on December 11, 2025, by a joint team of Ghanaian security operatives following an investigation linked to alleged romance fraud activities.

According to the United States Department of Justice, he is accused of being part of a criminal syndicate that allegedly defrauded elderly Americans of more than $8 million through romance scams. Prosecutors are seeking his extradition on charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and a forfeiture specification.

However, the businessman has consistently denied all allegations against him. Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Onua TV on June 3, 2026, Abu Trica maintained that he had been wrongly implicated in the case and accused the FBI of framing him.

“There is no such thing as an $8 million claim in the case against me. They themselves admitted they gave me $13,000,” he stated during the interview.

After spending several months in custody, Abu Trica was granted bail by the Accra High Court on April 21, 2026, in the sum of GH¢30 million with two justified sureties. He was eventually released on May 15 after fulfilling all the bail requirements.

Although the Gbese District Court initially approved his extradition, Abu Trica challenged the decision at the High Court, where the matter is currently being reviewed.

During Thursday’s proceedings, the court reportedly adjourned its ruling on the extradition application to July 2, 2026. The decision means the businessman will remain on bail for a few more weeks while awaiting the court’s final determination.
