The ongoing legal troubles of Abdul Gafaru Sadi, otherwise known as Webkid Afrika, have attracted renewed attention after popular Ghanaian artiste Shatta Wale appeared in court to show support for the detained social media commentator.

Webkid Afrika has remained in custody for nearly a month following his arrest over a defamation case linked to Stonebwoy. Since his detention, several attempts to secure bail have been unsuccessful, leaving him behind bars as the case continues.

Reports indicate that during a recent court appearance, the number of charges against him increased from three to six. The development reportedly rendered an appeal filed by his lawyer ineffective, further complicating efforts to secure his release.

Amid the ongoing proceedings, a video circulating online captured Shatta Wale at the court premises alongside his public relations manager, Sammy Flex. Several members of the Shatta Movement were also seen at the venue, demonstrating solidarity with Webkid as they awaited developments in the case.

Shatta Wale has been one of the most vocal figures calling for Webkid Afrika’s release. Since the arrest, the dancehall artiste and many of his supporters have consistently appealed for leniency while expressing concern over the fan’s prolonged detention.

Shortly after Webkid was taken into custody, Shatta Wale released a solidarity song in his honour, a move that sparked widespread reactions among fans and followers of both artistes.

Webkid Afrika’s arrest is connected to alleged defamatory statements he is said to have published about Stonebwoy and members of the musician’s family. The matter remains before the courts as legal proceedings continue.
