Fresh legal trouble has emerged for Ghanaian businessman and former presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, after a Commercial High Court in Accra reportedly granted police assistance for the takeover of his luxurious No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel in Osu.

The court gave the order after UK-based Cola Holdings Limited and its appointed Receiver, Nii Amanor Dodoo, told the court they had been unable to take possession of the property peacefully.

It has been reported that Cheddar, through his company Kensington Residential Partners 1 Limited, opposed the request. However, after hearing both sides, the court ruled in favour of Cola Holdings and allowed police officers to assist in taking possession of the property.

The latest ruling means the Receiver can now proceed with taking control of the luxury hotel with police support if necessary.

The dispute is part of an ongoing legal battle involving the No. 1 Oxford Street property. However, the court clarified that this particular ruling only relates to police assistance for taking possession of the property and does not bring the entire case to an end.

Earlier this year, Cheddar publicly stated that he disagreed with the claims made against him and his company. He also revealed that his lawyers had been instructed to challenge previous court decisions and pursue every legal option available.

The No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel has become one of the city’s most recognizable luxury properties, known for its stylish apartments, hotel facilities and prime location in Osu.
