What was expected to be the final farewell for the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka after the life he had lived successful all these years has become a bigger spectacle on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The confusion, legal drama and conflicting reports have overshadowed the funeral.
It was reported on Wednesday July 29, 2026, that a high court in Accra had placed an interim 10 days injunction on the funeral.
Despite this court order, the funeral grounds were filled with thousands of Kristo Asafo Mission members, sympathizers, admirers and some family members who turned up in large numbers for the ceremony in some videos from the funeral grounds seen on Thursday July 30, 2026.
Hon. Adwoa Safo, who has also remained at the centre of the funeral controversy, was also seen at the venue.
In videos circulating online, the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament appeared with one of her arms supported in a medical sling, suggesting she is recovering from an injury she got when her car was recently shot many times.
Not withstanding all these activities, the Secretary to the Kantanka family, Dr. Phillip Siaw Kissi, has laughed it off and publicly dismissed the event as a funeral, insisting that a funeral cannot take place without the body of the deceased.
“I don’t see this as a funeral because I have never witnessed a funeral without the body of the deceased,” Dr. Kissi said in a video seen online.
It should be noted that according to some reports, police officers have been stationed at the Transitions Home to enforce the High Court’s injunction and prevent the removal of the body while the legal dispute remains before the court.
As of the time of filing this report, the claims regarding the whereabouts of the body and the police presence at the funeral home had not been independently confirmed.
