The long-running dispute surrounding the burial of the late Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo Kantanka seems to be unending.
The high court has reportedly placed an injunction on the funeral that had been scheduled for July 30, 2026, by former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.
The latest development has triggered celebrations among supporters of Nana Kwadwo Safo Jnr., popularly known as Akofena, who had earlier challenged the funeral arrangements announced by his sister.
Some videos that surfaced online in the early hours of Wednesday, July 29, 2026, showed Akofena in a jubilant mood shortly after the court’s decision. In one of the clips, he was seen celebrating inside his car while interacting with people around him following the ruling.
According to the lawyer representing Akofena, the court granted a ten-day injunction on the funeral and directed that members of the family use the period to meet, deliberate on the issues at hand and seek an amicable resolution before returning to court.
The lawyer explained that the injunction was intended to create room for dialogue and help settle the disagreement over the burial arrangements for the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Akofena, who has maintained that the funeral date announced by Adwoa Safo did not have the approval of all relevant parties, was heard in one of the videos expressing gratitude following the ruling.
“God has won,” he said, adding that his late father’s funeral would come off at a later date after the necessary family processes had been completed.
Other videos that emerged online also showed people believed to be members of the Kristo Asafo Mission singing, dancing and jubilating over the court’s decision.
The injunction comes after weeks of public disagreement within the Kantanka family over who has the authority to determine the burial arrangements for the late religious leader and inventor.
Before the court’s intervention, Sarah Adwoa Safo had insisted that the funeral would proceed on July 30 despite objections from Akofena and some members of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
