Sarkodie has revealed that poor organisation at Afro+ Fest in Maryland, United States, nearly cost the festival his performance.
The Ghanaian rapper, who performed at the event on Saturday, September 5, took to X after his appearance to share his disappointment with how the show was handled.
Sarkodie said the experience was so frustrating that he seriously considered cancelling his set. However, his commitment to the fans who had turned up ultimately pushed him to take the stage.
“Almost cancelled my performance at Afro fest tonight but the fans always a good reason not to … literally had to psych myself to get on that stage… reminded me reasons why I barely accept to perform on these platforms… extremely disorganized but glad at least the fans had a good time … y’all get your sh*t together.”
Although he did not outline the specific issues that contributed to his frustration, Sarkodie made it clear that the organisation fell well short of his expectations.
The rapper’s decision to perform despite the circumstances meant festivalgoers still got to see one of Ghana’s biggest music exports on stage.

Sarkodie was among the artistes featured on the lineup for the 2026 edition of Afro+ Fest, a major Afro-Caribbean and hip-hop music festival staged at the Northwest Stadium Complex in Landover, Maryland.
The three-day festival, running from September 4 to 6 as part of the US Labor Day weekend celebrations, brought together a broad mix of established African, Caribbean and American artistes.
The lineup included Wizkid, Davido, Tems, Ayra Starr, Alkaline, Lil Baby, Latto, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold and Chief Keef, among several others.
Sarkodie appeared on Saturday’s programme alongside a number of high-profile performers, including Tems, Ayra Starr, Spice, Latto and Sexyy Red.
