Trading sex for movie roles is a huge canker in the Ghanaian movie industry.

Lots of people have complained about the tendency of some movie producers to demand sex before handing out movie roles. People like Big Akwes and Ola Michael have made headlines by admitting to sleeping with actresses.

Actress Safina Haroun is the latest actress to make this assertion.

In an interview with Zionfelix on Radio Univers, she revealed a producer once denied her a role because she wouldn’t give in to sex.

According to her, the said producer gave her two options; to sleep with him or pay money if she wanted to be a part of the project. She said the producer obstinately asked for sex which she outrightly refused.

In view of this, the role was given to another person who reportedly was in a relationship with the producer.

Safina reiterated how bad this phenomenon was for the movie industry and advised people to give roles based on talent and competence rather than sexual favours.
