The Ghanaian social media personality Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, has pleaded not guilty after making his first appearance before a United States Federal Court following his extradition from Ghana.

The internet sensation appeared before the U.S. District Court on Friday, where he denied allegations of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering linked to an alleged international romance fraud scheme. According to U.S. prosecutors, the case involves claims that victims, mainly elderly Americans, lost more than $8 million through the alleged operation. Authorities say Abu Trica could face a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty. However, under U.S. law, he remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Per information sighted by Zionfelix.net, Abu Trica was extradited from Ghana to the United States earlier this month, Thursday, July 9, 2026 — after months of legal proceedings surrounding the extradition request.

In a post on X, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the lawyer of Abu Trica, indicated the time the flight left Ghana. “Mr. Frederick Kumi was rmeoved from this jurisdiction earlier today, aboard Delta Air Lines flight 157, an aircraft that departed at sisteen minutes past nine o’clock.”

His not-guilty plea means prosecutors must now prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt during the upcoming trial.

The court has scheduled a jury trial for September 8, 2026, while a pre-trial conference is expected to take place before then. Reports also indicate that Abu Trica has secured legal representation in the United States as his defence team prepares to challenge the prosecution’s evidence.
