Ama Nova revealed in an interview that the title of this EP was conceived through emotions.

“Black and Blue speaks about a young black woman feeling Numb, (as others will call it feeling Blue) It talks about how beautiful people in love appears to be, but beneath their pretty face, they have a scar/ ugliness. Songs like decisions on my EP is a personal song to me, it’s a song I wrote about my family. It talks about Money, and how it can make bad decisions for us if not handled properly. It also talks about not forgetting where we came from, not forgetting family after making riches, it talks about the uncertainty about life, and how money comes and goes, so one must always acknowledge that,” Ama, a former student Professional Institute of Journalism (PIJ) stated.

She also named ‘100%’ as her favourite song on her debut EP ‘Black and Blue’.

“I love that song very much because it’s a typical story that everyone else can relate to, it talks about seeking an Assurance in a relationship. That no matter how things become in the future (in the case of personal damage or any form of deformities) my partner should assure me he/she will be there,” said Ama Nova.

She indicated that her lyrics come to her naturally when writing what she feels at a particular moment. The budding sing added that not all her songs are personal; some are ideas, topics she thought of and other people’s experiences.
