Ghanaian politician and entertainment executive Sadiq Abdulai Abu has offered a candid look into the early days of building 3Music Networks, pushing back against the idea that significant capital is a prerequisite for launching media ventures.

His comments came in response to a post by media personality Kafui Dey, who argued that starting a podcast does not require heavy upfront investment.

Recounting his own experience, Baba Sadiq said the platform began with minimal resources, relying on a laptop, his mother’s Kia Sportage, and creative input from close collaborators. Formal registration, he noted, only came later, when the business was already generating revenue through its first advertising cheque. From there, the company grew steadily until it secured investment five years in to expand operations.

In a follow-up post, he added an important layer to the story, explaining that his salary as founding Country Manager of Boomplay provided financial stability during the uncertain early phase of the business.

The remarks were a direct response to Kafui Dey’s assertion: 🎙️ “You don’t need GH¢50,000 to start a podcast. Let me save you money and excuses. One big lie in media:”
