A Ghanaian nurse who goes by the Twitter name, Akua Coco, has made a long thread on the Bird app to share the harassment she and a few friends had to go through at the hands of two police officers.

According to Akua, two police officers stopped a car they were inside at the Oyibi barrier and decided to search them while they were returning from the Volta Region to Accra.

She revealed that the officers initially said that the offense they had committed was that the only male friend who was with them, who was the driver of the car had too many ladies in his car.

Akua added that it shifted from the above offense to another one which is the fact that one of two other female friends in the car had a male condom in her tote bag.

She wrote that one of the officers said that having a male condom on her was an indication that she was a prostitute of a sort.

The nurse mentioned that the statement made by the police officer infuriated all of them and they questioned him on why he will such a remark.

Akua further disclosed that her friend could not hold back her tears when they were leaving because she was very terrified by the actions of the police officer.

She revealed that it took the intervention of the second officer who found out that she was a nurse to allow them to leave later on without any issues — which was after he took her number.
