Veteran Ghanaian actress Christiana Awuni has shed light on the realities of getting around despite her long-standing career in the film industry, revealing that she currently has no personal vehicle and depends largely on ride-hailing apps for her daily movement.

In an interview, the Kumawood actress said transportation has become one of her biggest ongoing expenses, as she has to repeatedly book rides to attend events, meetings, and carry out routine errands.

She explained that she avoids public transport entirely, saying the fear of public judgment keeps her away from boarding a trotro.

“I don’t have a car, I use Uber for my movements. I can’t pick trotro either, I will be criticized, meanwhile those critics have not bought me a car,” she said.

Awuni also reflected on a previous time when she owned a manual transmission car but was unable to drive it because she never learned how to operate it. She said this meant she often had to depend on one of her children to handle driving duties whenever the need arose.

That situation eventually changed after the vehicle was reportedly impounded near the 37 Military Hospital area.

She recounted that she was later asked to visit an office to sort out documentation and settle outstanding payments before the car could be released.

According to her, the financial demand placed on her at the time was more than she could manage.

“They called me that there’s a debt on the car so I should come and pay, and I told them I couldn’t afford the balance,” she revealed.

Following this, the actress indicated that she has remained without a car and continues to rely entirely on ride-hailing services for transportation.
