Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has etched her name in history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon. This achievement, however, was not without its challenges, including unexpected criticism from media personality Kwasi Aboagye.

Before the commencement of Afua’s epic singing endeavor in the early hours of December 24, 2023, Kwasi Aboagye, known for hosting Peace FM’s Entertainment Review show, made controversial comments that sparked controversy.

Sounding quite angry, he urged Afua to cease speaking and concentrate on attempting to break the record, even citing his opinion on her vocal abilities, suggesting she should avoid interviews and focus on improving her voice.

Despite the backlash at the time, Afua persevered, and started her singing continuously for over four days, until her efforts finally culminated in a triumphant achievement, surpassing the 105-hour mark previously held by an Indian singer, Sunil Waghmare.

In the wake of this monumental accomplishment by Afua, Kwasi Aboagye decided to finally issue a public apology.

In a post shared on his Facebook wall, he expressed regret over the tone and impact of his earlier comments, clarifying that his intentions were to encourage and support her during the singathon.

The manager of Despite Media’s Neat FM acknowledged the possibility that his words might have been misconstrued and extended a heartfelt apology to Afua Asantewaa and the wider audience for any discomfort his remarks may have caused.
