Ever heard of the term #Yabreankayada???? Well, the musician behind that street anthem, Bobby Billion, says his 2018 hit song has inspired many artistes in the Ghanaian music industry.
Billion’s ‘yabreankayada’ song has become an anthem in ghettos’ and the streets of Ghana. It has also been widely used by upcoming acts, celebrities like Delay and other personalities like Ghana’s Communication Minister, Madam, Ursula Owusu.
Speaking in an interview with blogger Zion Felix, Bobby mentioned that, his ‘yabreanakayada’ song has influenced artistes like Medikal, Kofi Mole, and many upcoming acts.
According to him, the aforementioned artistes and others have all released songs that were inspired by his 2018 banger and street anthem.
“The song did so well you know. I inspired a lot of artistes. I was the host of an entertainment TV show, so I did a lot of promotion for many of our artiste.
“They were inspired by my yabreankayada song and they all did songs from it. They started making songs such as ‘yabre’ ‘omo ada’ ‘wada’ and all that.
“It was all from my yabreankayada song,” he posited.
Asked by Zion Felix whether he is saying MDK took inspiration from his song, he answered in the affirmative.
“Clearly, clearly. Medikal got the inspiration from my song. Later he started using the term(yabreankayada). A lot of celebrities also used the term.
“He (MDK) was not the only one who used the term, a lot of A-list artistes, including Kofi Mole, also used the term in their songs.” he stated.
He however stated that, he holds no grudges against any artiste using a term he has coined in a song, because they are all ‘brothers’ in the music scene and are all at liberty to use terms they relate with.
