UK based Ghanaian gospel music star and leader of the Rockhill Church, Sonnie Badu, has in the last 48 hours found himself at the center of discussion in the media space following his recent outcry against Dr. Kweku Oteng, CEO of Angel Group of Companies.

Sonnie Badu in an interview on Okay FM with Abeiku Santana and MzGee cited disappointment and frustration after the failure of Dr. Oteng to sponsor his much-anticipated ‘Rhythms of Africa’ concert even though he allegedly promised to do so.

The remark made by Sonnie Badu received mixed reactions online with many of the people who commented stating that it was quite needless for Sonnie Badu to make the issue a public one.

Amid the backlash he has been receiving, Sonnie Badu has released a statement to offer some form of apology to Dr. Oteng, retracting his previous accusations and expressing regret for airing his grievances in public.

Even though the statement is supposed to be an apology, Sonnie Badu made the point that he wanted to clear the perception that Dr. Kwaku Oteng sponsored the concert when he did not.

He went on to explain that why he felt disappointed and the things he has done for Dr. Kwaku Oteng in times past for which reason he did not expect him to disappoint him for a second time.

Detailing his previous gestures of honor towards Dr. Oteng, Badu mentioned his tribute at the city capital in Georgia.

Read the apology below:

“*APOLOGY TO DR. KWEKU OTENG!*

Let me use my platform to apologize to Dr. Kweku Oteng for calling him out on Okay 101.7FM – for not sponsoring my concert, ‘Rhythms of Africa’.

For those of you who don’t know: I remained loyal to him and honored him gracefully in Atlanta, Georgia.

For my major concert in Atlanta, Dr. Oteng promised to support the project but came up short.

For the recently-held concert in Ghana, I paid a courtesy call on him and once again, he pledged to support the project, only for him to disappoint me again – after placing so much trust in his words and hoping he would make amends for his earlier failed promise.

After my visit to him, I excitingly posted on my social media platforms about his willingness to support the project.

I must admit that, it was extremely frustrating that an impression was created that Dr. Oteng had supported the successful concert that took place at the Grand Arena over the weekend and I felt the need to clear the air.

Nonetheless, I apologize sincerely to Dr. Oteng for bringing this out in the public domain.

I have learnt my lesson not to depend on man and indeed, when I turned back to God, he surprised me and made ‘Rhythms of Africa’, arguably one of the best events in Ghana thus far.

God bless you, Sir!”

Well, a lot of netizens have been raising concerns over this apology Sonnie Badu has sent across, stressing that there was no need to talk about all the things he has supposedly done for the business mogul if he really intended to apologize.
