PROFILE OF BRO. SIMON
Simon Buenortey Dugbatey was born on April 28, 1980, in Tema, Ghana to Daniel Dugbatey and Regina Tetteh. He was an athlete as a youth competing in sports particularly in track events. As a youth he develop the passion for Yahweh’s work and joined the boys and girls brigade at St. Paul’s Methodist Church at Tema community 5 and subsequently joined the singing group all towards building a giant knowledge in the music ministry. At the age of eleven, he began leading worship and praises with the group ‘Joyful Marshal” and finally graduated to Wesleyan Praise, the adult singing group at the St. Paul’s Methodist Church because of his zeal, hard work and explicit attitude towards Yahweh’s work.
Bro. Simon as being called by his ministerial followers is a minister of Yahweh’s words through spiritual Psalms and Hymns, a songwriter, praises and worship leader, a gallant member of the cross and a believer of Jesus Christ.
He is undoubtedly one of the fast-growing local and contemporary gospel musician in Ghana who is currently growing and gaining household name with his gospel songs. He released his first album entitled ‘SALVATION’ which have great and powerful songs, among them include Ayeyi featuring S.P. Kofi Sarpong, Eduru Mi So, Eyigbeye and many more.
He is a member of the International Central Gospel Church, the Lords Temple, nungua main where he constantly ministers. As a revivalist, he has organized gospel events over the last eight (8) years with massive spiritual impact and extraordinary testimonies of healings, breakthroughs, and deliverances. One notable programme organized every year is AGAFEST…a time of believers showing and pouring out their extensive and appreciable love unto Yahweh. He has had a lot more music exposures and experiences by performing on huge platforms such as Africa Worship with Sonnie Badu, S.P. Kofi Sarpong live concert, Foot Print Praise and a lot more international platforms specifically in South Africa. He was part of T.V 3 bands alive first edition and sung with the SAX group as the lead singer.
Bro Simon has a multi-octave vocal range spanning from bass to the first soprano and is well known for that among his followers. His voice has a literally staggering power and sensitivity. Interestingly, he’s never had any formal vocal training.
