A lot of Ghanaian musicians and some music group have changed one key aspect of their brands, which is their names over time. Notable among the lot we can choose from include names like Bandana to Shatta Wale, Batman to Samini, Ayigbe Edem to Edem, Abortion to Coded, Daddy Lumba to DL, Jane Awindor to Efya, Gogomi to Mugeez, VIP to VVIP, Tic Tac to Tic.

This move has gone to a very large extent to make some of the names listed above very big now while others have really struggled to make any meaningful impact in the industry. Talented gospel musician Obaapa Christy, who was formerly Christiana Love has disclosed that her name change some five years ago is one that has evidently helped her brand a lot.

The “W’asue Me” hitmaker told Zionfelix on the ‘Uncut’ show that she has not regretted the decision to change her name at all because her new name, Obaapa Christy, has brought her more than she ever had when she was just Christiana Love.

Asked if she had the inclination if the name change was one that was going to be a wise decision and affect her brand positively, the award-winning musician stated vehemently that she did.

She added that throughout her over seventeen-year music career, God has not disappointed her, not on even a single occasion and as such, she had the belief that it was not going to happen this time.
