Ghanaian politician cum actor John Dumelo has accused the President of the Republic of Ghana of lying to Ghanaians.

His comments came at the back of the introduction of new taxes to pay for the free water and free electricity that Ghanaians enjoyed during the 2020.

During the presentation of the budget statement in Parliament by Hon. Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu announced a 1% COVID-19 health levy.

The levy according to the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who spoke on JoyNews, is to pay for the free water Ghanaians enjoyed in 2020 prior to the election.

The announcement has sparked outrage as many social media users are accusing the Akuffo-Addo led government of deceiving them.

John Dumelo has also joined the debate. In a series of posts on Twitter, the former parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon accused the government of lying to the people.

He wrote: “…..when you lie to people that you giving them free things, only to come back and say “oh remember what I gave you”, it’s time to pay, that’s deception!”
