Veteran Kumawood actor Papa Kumasi has opened up about a frightening encounter in which he narrowly escaped being lynched by an angry crowd at Buokrom.

Speaking during an interview, the popular actor narrated how what began as a simple outing with a friend quickly turned into a violent ordeal that left him fighting for his safety.

Actor Says Incident Started During Phone Dispute

According to Papa Kumasi, he had accompanied a friend who had gone to retrieve a mobile phone he previously bought for a woman.

While waiting nearby, the actor said a woman approached and sat beside him while arguing with someone on the phone.

“I accompanied my friend and while I was sitting and waiting, a lady came to sit beside me. She was arguing with someone on the phone. Not long after, a man rushed towards us and she took to her heels. The man then turned to me and accused me of being the one encouraging her to insult him,” he recounted.

The actor alleged that before he could explain his side of the story, the man physically attacked him.

“He didn’t even hear my side of the story and landed me a hot slap. As I tried to calm him down, he slapped me again. At that moment, I knew if I didn’t act quickly, I would be overpowered, so I also slapped him back,” he said.

However, the situation reportedly escalated moments later when the man allegedly accused him of being a thief and called for help.

Papa Kumasi stated that several people quickly gathered at the scene and began attacking him without seeking clarification.

“They really beat me. Some wielded stones and others came with wood. It became a bloody scene. Nobody wanted to listen,” he recalled.

According to the actor, the situation became even more painful after the friends he had accompanied reportedly abandoned him during the chaos.
