The writer is Osei Chris Kofi. I have three strong passions in life — football, blogging and movies — in that order. I love spending time with friends talking about the important things in life and hate nothing more than ‘authority’ and hypocrisy. My personal believe in life is that once an individual sets his/her mind to achieve something, it is totally possible. And oh!, I am a strong Lannister, because I always pay my debt. With a background of diverse cultures, one would not expect Fresh Meddo’s debut album “ The journey Album” to hit on a single nail. The album affirms the impact of his Ghanaian culture fused with that of the American and dominant one, Sierra Leone; his current home.

Sierra Leonean Afrobeats/Afropop singer, Mohammed Kanneh, is widely known in the music scenes as Fresh Meddo.

The Journey Album ’ is his debut studio album and perhaps his most-well rounded effort to date. The 15 track album presented in two parts is replete with enough genre-mashing songs to satisfy the music palettes of his diverse fans. It is a hybrid of his two notable genres, Afropop and Afrobeat.

In its amalgam execution, ‘The Journey Album ’ comprises tauntingly good, all-caps Singer, as well as several bops in conversation with contemporary Afropop. It’s an eclectic piece masterfully woven, to cater to multiple audiences. It will be easy for Fresh Meddo to convince open-minded country fans to check out ‘ The Journey Album “.

I would refer to tracks one to ten (1-6 ) as the first phase and from six to fifteen (6-15) as the second phase. The 15 tracks album opens with “Journey “ where he sings effortlessly about knowing where ‘he’s coming from and heading towards ‘on a bop rhythm. Followed by “Suffer“ featuring Jesus da Rapper which preaches about how “time” serves each and everyone‘s fortune at its desired discretion. Followed up with “Matter” and “Dream Big “ speaking on his big aspirations and ensuring they become a reality. “Top shatta “ affirms his status in the community and music sphere.

The arguable standout song in this phase, and perhaps all of ‘The Journey Album ’ is “Better Day”. It’s a motivational piece delivered on a bops afrobeat. A perfect definition of unforgettable music.

In phase 2 of “The Journey Album”, Fresh Meddo changes from the initial motivational vibe to a warm musical palette, inflecting Afropop and Afrobeat songs speaking to fantasies and infatuations. ( 2night, Lib Jue-, Happy day, Salone TiTi, Kepper , Badda than Bad, My African Woman, Dripping,  and Leh Me Slide ) .

Production was solid. The mixing and mastering of the album were well done. The songs sound heavy in all music aspects. Producers on the album, Mic Junho, Jesus Da Rapper, 420 Drums, Kbeatz, Mastaplan, and Jo Quaye.
