Ghana’s rap king, Sarkodie was in Dubai for the One African concert held on Thursday, November 16 but failed to perform after a successful soundcheck and arriving at the venue on time, zionfelix.net reported hours after the mega event.
No official statement has been communicated to the press from organisers of the show or Sarkodie and his management but a source tells nydjlive.com that the Sarkcess Music boss was disrespected on the night hence his resolution reached after consideration that he will not perform.
According to the individual whose name is not known yet, Sarkodie was to perform after Tiwa Savage but Wizkid joined the Mavins artiste whilst on stage which prevented Obidi from performing after her as planned. The organisers after the unfortunate incident happened told Sarkodie he would mount stage after Teckno but Davido repeated what his arch-rival, Wizkid did when Tiwa Savage was on stage.
The last straw that broke the camel’s back according to the informant was when Banky W who was the host of the show mentioned Sarkodie as next act whilst DJ Mensah was setting up only to be informed later that Davido was to perform before Michael Owusu Addo.
“Sarkodie then felt turn of events were disrespectful. This happens to be the third time he has been disrespected in the same manner by the Nigerian artistes.”
Keche’s manager, George Britton who was also at the event posted on Facebook that one of Davido’s guys attacked Sarkodie’s bodyguard, Black Nana by pushing him to the floor to allow Davido perform. This action Mr. Mensah said generated an ugly scene at the backstage where blows and slaps were exchanged before Dubai police came to arrest certain individuals.
Top African artistes who performed at the event included include 2face Idibia, Wizkid, Davido, Tecko, Diamond, Victoria Kimani, Cassper Nyovest, Tiwa Savage, Flavour, Emma Nyra and many others.
