Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, the Ghanaian Journalist who engaged in a sing-a-thon attempt in December 2023, has disclosed that she and her management have paid for a priority review of her sing-a-thon.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Joy Prime, Afua shared that the usual verification process takes up to 12 weeks, prompting her decision to fast-track it after two weeks of waiting.  The priority review, which goes for $750, according to her, will take 1–5 days, as against the standard review that takes 12 weeks.

“Because of the popularity of the event they requested for our files. After two weeks of waiting, we requested a priority review. The normal review takes not less or more than 12 weeks. But if you want it quick you pay an amount of money and they review your file within five working days.

So that’s what we paid for. Officially, it’s $650 but when you are going to pay, you’ll need to pay some transaction fee so we did roughly $750,” she said.

The Sing-a-thon, a marathon singing endeavor, captivated audiences as Asantewaa embarked on her vocal journey on December 24, 2023. The melodic odyssey concluded on December 29, spanning an astounding 126 hours and 52 minutes.

Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon brought Ghanaians together during the yuletide as she made Ghanaian music popular.
