Stephanie Benson has questioned the double standard surrounding men and women who choose to have more than one partner.
The Ghanaian-British singer made the argument during an interview on Hitz FM, where she challenged the long-standing expectation that women should remain with one man while men can have relationships with several women.
“If I could bring that back so women to have more than one husband, that will be the ideal situation. I think it’s about time we had more than one husband,” she said.
Benson said the decision by many women to remain committed to one man should not be interpreted as a sign that they are incapable of managing more than one relationship.
She argued that women possess the capacity to handle multiple relationships but have historically chosen loyalty and commitment instead.

“I think it’s important because men underestimate women. They think they are the only ones who need more than one woman, but a true woman, our juices, it flows by far more than that. It is only because we are dedicated and loyal. That’s why we stay with one man,” Benson averred.
The singer went further to challenge the assumption that women would struggle to meet the needs of more than one partner, insisting that women can offer different forms of support within relationships.
She said that if society were to accept women having multiple husbands in the same way it has accepted men having multiple women, there would be little reason to suggest women could not manage such arrangements.
“But if that rule was there, listen, we can satisfy a multitude of men. Intellectual satisfaction for the man is there; we can support, and we can look after how many children? So why can’t we have two, three men? I mean, I can,” Stephanie Benson added.
