A Ghanaian event organiser based in South Africa has revealed that Ghanaian musicians are not taking advantage of opportunities available to them outside Ghana.

According to Ernest Fosu, a member of the organizing team for Ghana Music Awards-South Africa, a lot of Ghanaian artistes are too comfortable with their achievements in Ghana and as such do not bother to grow their brand and music internationally.

Ernest in an interview with Zionfelix admitted that very few Ghanaian artistes are popular in South Africa because they do not promote their music enough.

He said that years ago, Choir Master of Praye fame was in South Africa for a show and he was surprised to find out how well Praye’s songs were doing there.

Ernest believes that if the group knew this earlier, they would have taken advantage and grown their fanbase.

Ernest claimed that only a few Ghanaian artistes are known in South Africa. He said that Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and Edem are the only three Ghanaians that he has heard their songs being played in clubs.

He explained that Stonebwoy is popular because he has performed at a number of shows there and has a very popular song with Cassper nyovest.

He added that Shatta Wale even though is not as popular in South Africa can still make a name for himself there if he makes the effort.

He claimed that Shatta Wale is too comfortable being the king of his village and should make an effort to grow internationally.
