Following the brouhaha surrounding Mr Drew’s new song ‘Eat’, which featured Stonebwoy, the latter has revealed Stonebwoy was aware the song was a cover.

He told Zion Felix in an interview on the ‘Uncut Show’ that Stonebwoy knew the song was a cover before they started working on it.

Mr Drew claimed Stonebwoy told him he has listened to the original song ‘Love Riddim’ composed by Nigerian/American artiste Rotimi, but it wasn’t a problem.

The young musician stated that he got more vim after Stonebwoy said: “You get a big tune out of a big tune.”

According to him, this conversation began after the popular Ghanaian musician had reached out to him via Instagram expressing his readiness to work with him on the song.

The Highly Spiritual Music artiste said the initial plan was not to put Stonebwoy on the song but his involvement accounted for the decision to shoot a video for the song.

Mr Drew posited Rotimi was tagged in most of his posts on Instagram.

To him, you do not have to write officially to someone when you are doing a cover version of their songs, rather you give them the credit.

Sadly, the video of the song was taken down by YouTube for copyright infringement following its release.
