Sudanese-born British professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers, Luol Deng has visited Ghanaian musician, Fuse ODG’s school at Akosombo in the Eastern Region.

The top NBA player together with his management made a trip to Ghana to witness the project the ‘Azonto’ hitmaker started about a decade ago in order to make a donation for the success of the institution. Deng was happy to meet the students of Wood World Mission School and the facilities his musician friend has provided for them through fundraising.

Fuse ODG together with teachers of the school gave the former Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls top player a history of the school and their plans for the future.

The English recording artist of Ghanaian descent speaking after the tour in a press interaction told Zionfelix.net that “as a man, I always feel like it is my responsibility to help other people because that is how I live my life. This school started as an orphanage ten years ago and it developed into a primary school.”

On why he called on Luol Deng to help the project, the musician real name Nana Richard Abiona disclosed that “I feel like as Africans, our major problem is that we sometimes work individually but it is time for us to link up and work together and that it is why I brought him down here. It was very important for him to come down to meet the kids and feel the project”. He later thanked the basketball player for taking time out of his busy schedules to be in Ghana to visit his school and also agreeing to help.”

Luol Ajou Deng on his part stated that “it is amazing to be here and like Fuse ODG said, it is important to support each other. Flying all the way here, it means I’m ready to support his project and that is what Africans need to do.”

Born in what is now South Sudan, Deng fled the country with his family as a child, moving to Egypt and then the United Kingdom. He became a British citizen in 2006 and has played for the Great Britain national basketball team in international competitions.
