Until recently, the songs of Ghanaian Afro-pop singer-songwriter, Wiyaala were not too popular in Ghana because of how they were perceived to be too classical by some people.
However, she was getting all the needed recognition and attention from people and shows from other parts of the world, especially Europe.
During the discussion of this issue about classical songs on Happy FM, Dr. Cann, the host of the stations ‘Showbiz Xtra’ show claimed that he was the only playing the songs of Wiyaala just about five years ago.
He added that the trend has changed now so many other presenters have joined the craze and playing more of her songs because she is very popular now.
Dr. Cann further urged Ghanaians to try and pay more attention to such songs too.
He however on the lighter side also mentioned that Wiyaala has sadly stopped calling him now after she became a household name.
